Becca Holmes

Becca Holmes has been Co-Manager of Active Learning through Opera (ALTO) program with the Santa Fe Opera since 2006, where, with the help of her team of opera artists, she has supported over 40 groups of students in grades K-12 to develop and produce their own operas. Ms. Holmes represents the Santa Fe Opera in the Kennedy Center’s Partners in Education program. Selected because of their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of education in and through the arts, Ms. Holmes and her team members from Santa Fe Public Schools and Rio Rancho Public Schools participate in collaborative efforts to make the arts integral to education by providing professional development in the arts for teachers.

Prior to joining the Santa Fe Opera, Becca served as an Arts Specialist at a Kennedy Center Changing Education Through the Arts (CETA) school in Reston, Virginia. This program provides professional learning opportunities for teachers to build their knowledge of the arts as well as their ability to integrate the arts with the curriculum. She graduated from The University of New Mexico’s College of Fine Arts with a B.F.A. in Acting and later studied at San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theatre. She went on to become Associate Artistic Director of The Empty Space Theatre in Seattle. Currently Ms. Holmes is a freelance stage director and company member of the film production company, Siren 13 Media.
